Great Week for Boating in Tennessee
We've had over 5" of rain in most parts (way more in nashville) and everything is going off. We ran Island Creek at a great level last night. I'm at work right now but I'm hoping to run something good this evening...
Good stuff will be running for the next 3 days.

Hmmm... getting nervous that I may miss a golden opportunity on Thursday. It's my understanding that the Middle Ocoee is running 24/7 while the flume is broken. Anyone know for sure if this is the case? Anyone interested in paddling it Thursday?
Alternately, anyone paddling a different III/III+ river up for me taging along???
Thanks!

Loving the rain. We ran Island Creek at a great level on Sunday and caught Thunderhead Prong at good water and Tremont at a beefy level last night. Probably heading to the Little this evening and it looks like Daddy's Creek will hold for an after work run on Thurs...
PS- Bob, I just checked my in-box and replied to your message.

The worst post name in history
Harrrump! I live in Middle TN. As a matter of fact my wife and I took our Old Town Appalachian and Sea Eagle up yesterday after Metro Nashville Police put out a call for anything that floats to help with rescues.
I have been a boater for some long while now. And I sure understand excitement over good water conditions, but "Great week for boating in TN" has got to be one the worst titles one could have picked about now.
"Loving the rain" didnt help much either, though I do understand. Enjoy, but understand for those of us living thru this mess that it can sting a bit.

I hardly think that dooley meant any Ill Will towards anyone in Middle TN, he's a pretty nice guy.WaveRhydr wrote:Harrrump! I live in Middle TN. For me; boating brings me closer to to something divine, and in a open canoe I'm 8 Inches closer.

I expect you are right about dooley being a great fellow. And I was at pains to temper my remarks. Ie gentle reminder that its actually bad and gotten worse here.
Actually there is growing anger over the situation here. The national news have covered a bomb that didnt go off and an oil slick they cant fix. Many here are feeling forgotten by the Nation like those in New Orleans in 2005, as until the last couple of days we saw pretty much zero coverage on TV.
Federal resources have been about non existant. National Guard pretty much the same. Various county rescue squads, TWRA and volunteer boaters have come thru, and thats a really good thing and story, but we used to have a National Guard with resouces such as boats and helicopters, etc.
A city in my home county lost their drinking water tonight. They are sort of lucky, as a number of counties have none.
So heck, I dont have a problem with boaters talking about great water condtions, and I have no problem with Ole Dooley or anyone else. Though me and a bunch of others here are waiting for the National press to make our situation here clear. And stumped as to why they havent. Ok, I got it out of my system now.
Dooley, dont let it bother you, seriously:)

Nah, its me who wish they had'nt posted
Nah Dooley,
It's me who should prolly apologise. I was venting. I meant to be humourous on "Worst Post Title Ever". I mentioned how we in Middle TN were stumped and ticked off that our story wasnt getting out. Well, here I am bitching about someone who had no idea what the situation here is, and it wasnt their fault as it wasnt reported nationally.
ALSO, the situation has been just plain goofy. Once the rain stopped the dams started releasing water. It starts to recede and drinking water and power goes.
