8 hours and 15 minutes according to Mapquest, provided that you drive 100 percent John Q. Legal-Citizen like.

I could probably shave that to 4 hours 7.5 minutes, provided I had a police escort the whole way.

I got a couple permits for the 10 am window. Seemed like the thing to do.
For camping, I might be ready to look at something other than Ohiopyle State Park...

last time i camped in ohiopyle state park we had rangers sneaking around in the dark, through campsites, looking for booze. i turned around and this guy's breathing down my neck, literally. i won't be back.

Picked up a few launch times for Sat and Sun - both days at 11 to 12 (late risers and time to set a realistic shuttle)!

PincheLocoGringo it would be great if you can make it... let us know if you need a boat-gear & /or partner!

I should be there with at least 2 tandem teams. :-)

lilkey to be in

Post by Jim P »

i have an 11, and a probable partner. :o

I can provide camping should folks want to go non-commercial - make your own sites, where there are no rangers, cept me and I just shoot miscreants. :D Parking would be limited to perhaps 6-8 vehicles. Flush toilets available with a single shower that can be shared by all.

Location - 8 minutes south of the putin.

Tony, your explorer is more than good enough for the lower yough. Don't sweat it. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Launch permits

Post by Not Elvis »

Being July 1st, I figured I would refresh this discussion to tie up loose ends or misunderstandings.

Who has got launch permits already, and who is waiting until the last minute?

Who is staying where on Saturday night? The St. Pete Riverscout Martin extended pod and I got a site at Benner's campground. Others are pondering JimP's yard. Does everybody have their ducks in a row?

Still coming, but no permits or camping yet...Did I wait to late?

EDIT: I just got launch times for Noon on Saturday (all that was left) and 11am on Sunday. Will I be ok with the noon launch on Saturday? will people be slow (if history is accurate) getting on? Does anyone have any extra lauch permits for 11am?

Thanks...Now, the camping??

Awwww Shucks!!! Would love to grab my regular tandem partner (daughter, Juli) and join the Tandemonium in our Torrent XL (1984 slalom C-2). However, I'm committed to taking her twin sister (Kaja) down to the Junior Olympics at NOC, and will still be down there that weekend.

I have great memories of surfing swimmers with my wife in the same C-2 back when the boat was still new.

Have a great time everyone!!!

John
