Does anyone know where I get some high strength velcro?

I am looking for options to fix my pump in a box in my canoe and still keep everything easy to take apart and remove. I want something that will dam near rip a hole in the bottom of the boat before it breaks free!

Any suggestions?

A couple of options:

I strap my pump, and a separate battery/switch box, to the foam pedestal, using 1" webbing and a plastic cambuckle. Pump is in front of the pedestal, at the lowest point on the hull. Switch is on the back of the saddle, where it won't get bumped accidentally. The wire runs around the saddle, in a slot carved into the foam pedestal.

Optionally, you can glue anchors on the hull, and run the same kind of straps through the anchors. My buddy has affixed his pump and electronix box to a common base (aluminum panel) and one strap holds 'em both in.

I have been using a standard hardware store brand of velcro on the back of my pump case to the front of the foam pedistil. The edges of the foam knee pads and front air bag also help in holding the pump in place. So far I have no problem. the velcro measures about 2"x4". and is glued to the foam pedistil with contact cement. just be careful and separate the velcro slowly not to rip it from the saddle.

3M makes a type called dual-lock I believe. You want to get the version with the tighter groupings of pips. You need a screwdriver to pry it apart when joined. McMaster-Carr carries it.

This stuff is virtually impossible to separate in shear, and only slightly easier to separate in tension. We used it to hang the clear plastic walls on the clean room at the place I used to work, and we used a rubber mallet to get the two pieces of "velcro" to stick together. McMaster-Carr was our supplier.

You can get reasonably high strength velcro at Lowes, sticky-back and non-sticky back. I've also bought it on the roll to specified length from Strapworks I think, then had a seamstress friend sew it onto webbing for a lapbelt. It held me in a playboat fine...
