Lower Yough on Thursday August 5th ???

Post by Craig Smerda »

Anyone interested?

I'm not making any promises here... just seeing if folks would be interested in a meet-&-greet, to see the new boat(s) in person and then doing a quick group run on the Lower Yough some time on that date.

I'm fairly certain I'm heading to OC Slalom Nationals at ASCI and hitting the Upper Yough a few times over the course of the weekend... but I haven't cemented anything down yet.

I know there are a lot of OC'ers around the area... but I also realize it would be on a work day. How late does the river run? Would it be better later in the day or early evening? I don't think I could even be there until after lunch at the earliest anyway.

Let me know if you think you'd show....

This could be cool

Post by ohioboater »

Wow, usually my schedule NEVER meshes up with anything cool.

I will most likely be at Riversport on Thursday for my kids to try out some itty bitty Jackson boats. Would love to try a L'Edge on the Loop if I can work out the logistics to get down to the put in when you all will be there.

Lower Yough runs 24x7. Park just requires that you be off the river by dark. Not sure when the last shuttle bus leaves from the takeout - usually around 7:30 or so. Takes a good 4-5 hours with moderate play to run the whole thing. But if you just do the loop, you don't have to worry about shuttle.

I could potentially be talked into it, and bringing a Blackfly Demo.

If this happens I am in. I will be in the area Thursday-Sunday and If not on the Lower Yough I would like to try the boats out at ASCI if they are available. My Maxim has seen better days and its time to make a decision on it's replacement, hopefully next spring.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need permits for weekdays. You still need tickets for the bus, but no permits on weekdays.

Anyone want to name a time to meet at the put-in?

Will be up at Riversport by mid morning on Thursday for my kids to demo pint-sized boats. Would love to try a L'edge on the loop, if it fits with our schedule. First priority, though, is my kids having fun and my daughter having enough time to figure out which hull works best for her.
