Post by Space Canoe »

Here’s the sales figures for our type of boats; I wonder if anyone knows how many C- boats are sold/out there in general?

That's interesting. I would have guessed that the percentage of WW kayaks in the overall sales would be higher, somewhere in the 15 % range. Interesting that the percentage shrank by about 1/3 from 2001 to 2002, could it bwe that the market is getting saturated due to an excessive amount of new designs getting released every year?
Since most C1 are conversions, that are done once the boat is sold, they are probably included in these figures. So as averaged wwkayak sales for 2001/2002 are ~22,000 units, and cboaters are, and I think I am highballing here, about 2% of the ww boating community, that would put my guess at about 400 to 500 C1 per year.

As for canoes, it the percentage of WW boats is ismilar as it is in Kayaks, that would put the number of sales around 5000 to 6000 OC.

Interesting!
The data are open to some interpretation, but overall it looks like the market is saturated (and needs something new?) :D
