In the kiddy pool they are talkin about how "boaters" are gettin a bad name in Friendville Maryland. Now if it was some good thing that was happenin, the story would start out with "kayakers"

Also some dumb butt over there was talkin about access issue on the Rocky Broad, he closes with "I sure hope the AW (American kayaker) get involved........ya I can see the results we will be allowed to boat 12 days a years, have to use one raft company for shuttle service, sign a piece of paper before you put on and it will have a charge to do it. some people never learn from history.

Single stickers aren't really different from kayakers as far as put-in/take-out manners, are they? Or if we are better behaved, is it enough for others to notice?

Well no, however with age come wisdon and mannors, sense of time and a better respect for nature.

so yes we are better at the put in than the kayakers, however the demographis are a changin. If you look at the average age of that group we had on the river Saturday and I am sure it is at least 20 year younger than a group of 19 open boater you would have on the Gauley just five years ago. I don't recond you have ever beenn to ALF Doc but beside a bunch of geezer our age Doc there a bunch of young and middle age pubs, come up to the lost tribe thing on Oct 3rd on the Ocoee.

That bein said while we old fart are still the majority we need to rais hades with the young canoers who park two wheels over the white line on a uS hiway, that won't open both door on the truck to stand in between while gettin naked. We can do a better job with our new Canoers than the butt boater did with theirs, of course when they grew they grew so fast i douth anyone could have taught that many anything.

Louie,

every time you read the kiddie pool (which is not as moderated as this humble forum), or anything about AW you get all worked up. Mr. McGnarlz made a comment (which I think you agreed with) that if folks didn't like what was posted they should ignore it.

I'm just recommending you follow his suggestion to be humorous 8)

Different mountains, different rivers, different humor
