Replacement of rescue ropes....

Okay I'm thinking I need to replace the rope in 3 of my rescue bags. Yep I could by new bags but the bags themselves are in pretty good shape and I hate to just buy new when something has life left in it.

Each of the ropes is getting a tad long in the tooth and this year 2 of them had more action than in the past. The core lines are starting to have the cores peak through as well.

The hard part here is 1. what rope to use as a replacement, 2) where to get it from and 3) what type of rope to use in replacement.

I'd like to go to one source and domestic if possible.

One of the bags is a raft / canoe bag 75' of 7/16th" Spectra (I think) - using on a shredder
one is a lotus kayak bag 50' of 1/4" Poly pro - one of 2 extras
and
One is a salamder waist bag 55' of 5/16" 2500 lb. Spectra core - I wear this regularly but have a replacement for it. If I can replace the rope it will be donated to paddler with limited resources who I sometimes paddle with (the throw rope you care is not for you but for your buddies... are your buddies carrying?)

The binners will all be replaced (moved to hanging boats and gear) with ones that are a couple years old (climbing) but with no falls or real tension on them. So I'm good there!

A related note. I have an old Wildwater Designs 70' throw rope, Spectra core.

On inspecting it recently, I found that the grommet in the base of the bag had cut partly through the rope. This was due to an off-center hammering job on the grommet.

Folks having any sort of throw rope with a metal grommet in the bottom of the bag should check to see if the rope is OK.

I dunno about replacements but I call dibs on the old rope - that should be fine for painters on the "fleet" canoes (decent floating line is hard to come by).

You could try contacting the original manufactures: lotus and salamder
