Just got my Blackfly today, what an awesome little OC1 playboat.. incredible. Was amazed at how stable and yet so playful it was, and it was much quicker than I imagined. Here's a video of one of my first rides.

And yes, I could stand up and paddle in the Blackfly too, must not mean much, other than I would never be able to do that in my Zoom. :)

speaking of bacon, it is my no 1 winter paddling snack. i think i got the idea from reading about how the russians eat smoked salted pork fat on their crazy class VI expeditions. just fry some extra bacon up when you are making breakfast before you go to the river. throw it in a good ziplock and put it in the pocket on your pfd. bring extra and it is a great way to make friends. people eyes light up when you offer them bacon in the eddy above a big drop on a cold day.

In a canoe you don't just float down a river: you're part of it- a silent water creature responsive to every surge and flex of current, gliding like a fingertip over a naked green body. "The River Why" David James Duncan

Yeah, I hate that FB vid stuff but it was the only one to work with the music in it since I'm over my weekly limit with Vimeo. Its about halfway uploaded up youtube at the moment, and if it works I'll post that link.
