Adams River 2010 Canyon Carnage

Post by nfried »

The Beaver Canoe Club from Vancouver, BC makes an annual trek to the Adams River on the Labor Day weekend. The Adams River is mostly a class II run with II+ weir and a short canyon of class III with a large pool below to pick up the yard sales. This is a great run for the novice and other class II paddlers to 'step-it-up', so usually gets a great turn out. This year we had 23 boats with close to a 50% carnage rate.

Here's a video highlighting the best of this years canyon carnage. Enjoy!

Fun carnage video. Some serious gunwale grabbing going on there. Great to see so many people trying to step it up. Fun to see two of my old Phantoms getting a workout.

Yeap, the purple outrage also gave a pretty good close-up demonstration of what happens when you don't angle properly eddying out!

Looking like a dummy on the camera in flatwater right after nailing a big wave is rather deceiving :o
Watch out; that river has rocks on the bottom. :o

The local rate is a beer per rescue so the trick is to boom on down and to set up shop in the fat green pool. Pays well.
Often the carnage rate is even higher when higher water produces excellent haystacks with good brewmaster foam.
