Free beer when you get to the event Al? something like that? discount? All that stuff can be worked out - I'm trying to find out if there would be an interest in this ... It would more so be for the 'flatwater paddlers' in the area... ppl my age that don't know about the sport of ww, and are lookin for a good fight... cuz those are the type of people that make 'fullgnarlz' paddlers lol

Also - We might be able to get the event sponsored by Golden Monkey and get some free cases - actually there would be a real good chance of them sponsoring a boxing fight - and the deal would be... the monkeys go to those that do the 'acension' or whatever we'd call it.

Mark - is this something you'd be interested in? Ed? Joe? Tony?... i'm sure I could probably get half off tickets($10) for all of us...

It really is a great setup to do something like this... plenty of islands(camping) right there, downtown being right there... not to mention...it's half way to the LY/UY for you Eastern paddlers anyways.

I'm sure BMO might be interested in offering demos(there is a bay with no current right at the put in - big enough for 300 some boats)

we'd put on a couple hours before the fight or something... paddle down 1/4 mile - very slowly - consuming as much as possible - pick an island to set up camp(theres a handful) along the way... and paddle the next 1/4 mile to city island... watch some professional boxers try and beat the crap out of each other(sounds entertaining enough)... then do whatever we feel like after that(bars or go back to the island and have our own party)...

Locally I believe it will attracted tons of young dudes and girls. Also paddlers in the Harrisburg Canoe Club as well as Conewago Canoe Club(20mins away from Hburg) would have interest in doing such a thing

PS - Mark, watch out for Asad's Scimitar...

I'm not trying to be a nah-sayer, but they already do a big race and paddling event on the Susquehanna every year, called the Great River Adventure. I know they do a family friendly island hopping trip and a downriver speed race, that attracts many hundreds of paddlers and families. It might make more sense for Mohawk to get in on that event and have demo boats there, because you know you have a receptive audience of paddlers and families.

mark, I agree - with Mohawk skipping out on this one... I had originally mentioned it... but I think it becomes to involving at that point...and there are better events to attend.

I think it would be better off if it were just a bunch of us friends showing up and having a good time... you know... spend time explaining to the flatwater paddlers that participate that... "no they aren't kayaks..."

I anticipate a pretty darn good number of people other than ww paddlers showing up looking for a good time, as opposed to just 'driving' to the event.

I mean really the goal here is to get on TV cuz that's +1000....or going out to the bar and when the ladies ask 'so what do you do for a living'...'we run waterfalls in a canoes."

Mod Moment: All the banter has been split into a seperate thread in Off Topic. By all means continue to have at it there!
