YES!!!! Brown would be sooooo cool. Ok, so it might not be a great seller but it would be distinctive .
Likely not a good business decision but for the two people who do buy one, VERY unique.
AND........ there are likely to be some great deals....

A friend had a Glass Viper 11 in brown ( he called it Root Beer ) man was it fugly. He may even still have it, doesn't paddle any more.Craig Smerda wrote:I'm thinking the world needs a brown plastic open boat... stop me before I press too hard for it.
<--- why are smiley faces yellow anyway?
When the L'Edge was coming out I was hoping it would be anything but red I'm all good with it now but yellow or orange would be my choice.

You talking about that copper-metal flake Viper 11? I always thought that boat was super sharp... who was the guy from Mill Creek Boats who smoked the funny cigars? Reminded me of Alfred E. Neuman. He was always in it on the Ocoee, the sun would hit that thing just right and... WOW!philcanoe wrote:did that on a viper 11
Thought it was going to be just so so, but got lot of (even years later) favorable response.
Where'd that boat end up? The way of all glass boats?

same
that was Donny
it also had a wee bit of prismatic (hence the rainbow) flake and WoW. The one I was thinking about (the first) was a guy called Injun, he moved out west somewhere where it was paddled for a while. Nice guy who was seriously into Indigenous American lifestyle ... I'd hear a report every now and then for a few years.
Believe Ms B had or has Donny's ?

Saw something like that once when the dog ate a package of glitter...arhdc wrote:...Brown with rainbow metal flake, that would be unique and truly hard to sell. Or maybe not. Metal flake makes everything better.

In all seriousness - Canoeing as a whole needs to get off the red boat kick - it no good for us and its no good for sport - Im like a Bull at this point - i see red - i get angreeeeeee
I guarantee if people actually had a say in the color of their boats - it would factor in strongly in many cases as to which manufacturer / boat to go with.
The major reason people don't care now is because they've never really had a choice for color. That's something that can be improved upon within our manufacturing base. We have plenty of new designs to meet new 'demands'.... lets start moving ahead in other areas - such as boat customization - this would help draw in people outside the sport of canoeing - uber sweet looking canoes - made to look how you want them - If I was dropping $1500+ on a canoe - I would sure strongly consider paying a little more to get that boat to look exactly how i wanted it to.
