I'd plump for a Plastic 2008 model Martikan from Vadja over converting a K1 slalom boat.

Fluid Kayaks just came out with a plastic slalom boat too called the Donsa. A good friend of mine just bought one for around $600 new. They're cheaper than other kayaks I heard because they're not made as thick as other kayaks.

I do not think the Donsa is a practical conversion no matter how badly I wish it was. The cockpit is insanely narrow and small and would require major modifications to fit a c1 set-up. The boat is also relatively narrow and they are only currently making 1 size of them, the "medium".

I have no idea about this other boat you mention, but I wanted to share that about the Fluid boat.

Funny enough slashers can still be found hanging around on the cheap... Not sure how it does perform as per today's standards though. Looks heavy?

the slasher is nothing like the modern slalom boats the slasher had its place in history but the newer boats in my opinion are way more fun to paddle I would love to try that robson c1 out too bad its practically impossible to getting one in the states without paying at least twice its worth. I would take that boat over any playboat on non creek runs. For performance though you gotta go glass because the edges really make a difference and the edges are much more crisp in glass plus lightweight helps.
as far as converting i can not imagine any k1 slalom boat even being paddleable as a c1

anyone got any info on availability of the robson above? just wondering in case i decide to get into slalom in the future and cant find a used boat.

I believe that Robsons are very hard to acquire in the US at this point. Not sure about Canada, but I think it is similar. The website does show two dealers in the US, but I don't know if that is at all current.
