I'm not sure if its your upper grip on the paddle or that you're paddling an Impulse

Ugh - nothing shows mildew like yellow nylon :-)

If you get to feeling nostalgic, I know where an almost mint Impulse can be had - it was never in the water til last summer, then only paddled 3 or 4 times since...

This was my second time in an OC-1 on moving water. I guess I'm just a quick learner?

Your photo has to be on the internet somewhere. Go to that photo & right click, then click "properties". A box will pop up. Look for "Address" Highlight & copy the entire address (sometimes it's a much as 3 lines long). Come back to c-boats & reply or post a new topic. Click the box that has "IMG" in it. Then right click & paste the address of the photo. Don't put any spaces in there.

Just send all your embarrassing pictures to me, I'll find an appropriate place for them.

BTW, I'd post pictures of myself from when I didn't know any better, there just aren't any

Guess the mistake that led to the situation in each of these photographs...

Image
I'd been paddling OC for about about 9 months at this point...

And this is me "mid race" a couple of months ago, in my first wildwater race (and first time on whitewater in a Race boat)... the second run was a lot better.

Here is the end of my second day in a canoe and my first attempt at soloing. Notice Craig and I have not only the same taste in paddles but grips as well. This was taken 2/28/80 at the takeout of the North Fork of the White River in the Missouri Ozarks. I was with Bob Million in his 17A Blue Hole helping to celebrate his birthday. This takeout had a nice boater-friendly bar on one side of the bridge with a pool table. Later we retired to the empty campground on the other side, built a roaring fire and got drunk on Yukon Jack. Next morning I found my Chuck Taylor boating shoes had lost the tongue and laces to the inferno, thus ending their short boating career.

I on the other hand had found an activity that meshed perfectly with two of my favorite pasttimes- camping and drinking :D .
