Bought an Evergreen Starburst a couple years back (new) and outfitted it with airbags, end cages, thigh straps, and foam knee pads for whitewater tripping. With outfitting, the canoe probably cost close to $2200. Very first day we ever had it in the water my 14 and 16 yr old sons wrapped it around a rock in some CII - CIII rapids. We managed to pull it off the rock with some effort, and the canoe sprung back to its original shape. However, there are now these ugly creases in the Royalex on both sides of the canoe. The damage has had no impact on the functionality of the canoe, and we have gone on many trips since that time with no issues. However, I would guess that our little incident decreased the resale value of this canoe by 30-50% of what we could get for an "uncreased" canoe. Did I mention that those creases look really ugly?.
