Perception OC saddle - interest?

I recently came by a rotomolded Perception OC saddle. It has a water-proof screw-open access facing the bow and bulkhead-style shaping to secure the knees/thighs. In the rear, it has an aluminum bracket that attaches to the underside of a thwart, and in the front the whole saddle fits under the thwart to stabilize it. I didn't realize such a thing existed until I got this one. Is anyone looking for such a beast?

I bought one for $30. I acquired a really nice one when I bought an old Whitesell Descender. Sold the saddle for $30. Might be worth a little more, but the market is going to be small. There are some nice features to that saddle. And some serious flaws.

Biggest one beeing you can't cut it down to adjust to your own physiology. But some folks who appears to fit nicely in them love'em.

Part of it depends on what color it is. Going from heavy to light, I've seen black, dark grey, and light grey plastic. The light grey rivals minicell in weight.

One nice thing about this type is that with a little reinforcement inside the saddle you can hang it from the thwarts. This keeps most of your weight off the bottom of the boat, reducing wear and tear on the hull.

One not-so-nice thing is that I find this type keeps my knees closer together than I like -- reduces leverage on the hull when rolling and bracing.

New ones, if you can find them, push $100.

Anybody near Ct. that wants one can stop by. I'll let one go (converted a Whitesell to Tandem) for what I paid for it. Aaron had it in the Pirana for a few years, his training boat. It was unused when we got it and is mint now. Cost would be...free. Just passing the karma forward. I'll be at the Esopus 10/2 and am in western ct.

I saw one once that had been drilled out - it looked like black plastic rattan - you know patio whicker. The guy was in a Whitesell at Surfing Rapid on the Nanty. He flipped and hand rolled it. He said it was to reduce weight and let the water flow through. Kinda cool, but so much for the dry storage
