As you may know, the original cockpits on the Zealot were not made for anyone but 'skinny dudes and gals'. Thus, I cut out and significantly widened the portion of the cockpit where it hits the outside of your thighs. The back 2/3 of the cockpit are original, and the very front is original. Many years ago I did a hand lay-up of both a C2 and a C1, so I am experienced in building cockpit rims.
To answer your questions:
**> I think it is much more comfortable than the standard rim. I can get my knees much further apart so I'm not sitting directly on top of the back of my calves.
**> FYI, my seat height is about 6.5" and I fit just fine in the boat with it at that height. The boat isn't tippy either.
