Re: An Honest Salesman

Classic. I haven't paddled in a while but I started in a Nitro and it took me a bit longer (as a large paddler) to feel confident. I think ultimately it was good for my skills but it did take a while and I do know all the good swim lines on the local runs around here.

Probe 14 - Solo Outfitted

The boat is red and includes, like new, harmony end bags. It is in Dahlonega, GA about 2 hrs north of Atlanta. I would like to get $750 for it. It is in excellent condition.

Go to http://atlanta.craigslist.org/boa/1106279593.html for pictures and more info.

Thanks.

Blast and Cart

Sorry to hijack your post a little nug. Eric, How does the Blast handle compared to the Nitro? I really miss the playability of the Nitro. The bigger boat gives me alot more stability in Class IV. I don't know if you have been down the chattooga but I borrowed a Genesis from a freind and ran the sec...

Big Guy

I am 6' and approaching 300#. I started in a Nitro which I could paddle well after a year or so. After I tried a freinds Genesis I realized I needed a bigger boat if I wanted to take my paddling to the next level. But I feel like starting out in the small boat made me a much better paddler. I have t...

What about the Raven?

That seems to be along the lines of what people are suggesting. Anyone got any experience with it yet? I have been paddling a probe 14 for the past couple of months. It's a big boat when paddled solo but it still has some performance. I took it down Section 4 (Chattooga) recently with no problems. I...

Addendum

One other thing I need to mention about the Nitro is that the "double chine" creates concentrated wear on the edges. As a heavier paddler if you do a lot of low water runs it will not last very long. This was the main reason I decided not to go for the Blast when looking for a bigger boat. That boat...

Big Dude

I am a little heavier than you at 270. I started paddling in a Nitro and was happy with it for playing in class II-III stuff. I decided to get a bigger boat when I started to step up to Class III-IV because I never had much confidence in must-make situations and it was difficult to ferry it at my we...

AB Oddessey

I have one of those. The catch compares to a spoon blade. The in-water recovery sucks though. It drags really bad if you just turn it sideways instead of pulling all the way out of the water. But it seems to have a lot more flexibilty than the AB Edge; it is a lot easier on the tendon in my bicep or...

NOC

They had a purple one of these (I'm pretty sure it was the 12'2" one) at the NOC. It looked brand spankin new to me but was going for $900. It was purple, outfittted with double strap. Might be worth calling them.

Thanks Guys.

I would love to check one out. I tried to demo one from mohawk but all they have available is a Probe 14 and a Viper 11. I am going to the Nantahala Friday with a buddy that has a Viper 11 so I will try the 11 and see if I see anyone that has a Viper 12 on the river. I am going to demo their probe j...

Mohawk Viper 12

So I did my research and searched this topic prior to posting. I got back to 2004 without finding the information I am seeking. I am getting a new boat. I have been paddling a Nitro for the past year. I want to see if anyone has an opinion on the transition from a Nitro to a Viper 12 and what opinio...
