Lost Tribe doing their part

Post by smbjs »

16 open boats on the Hiwassee Sunday. 5 brand newbies, in preparation for 125 boys on the river Aug 21-22 another group will have 75 That's 200 paddlers! odds are in our favor to make a few open boaters!

Anybody got an old barge in the backyard let us know we're looking to add a few.

And Canoeing is dead?

hopefully those boys grow up to get good jobs so they can afford $1600 canoes.....or they might switch to kilts.

Once you add up the cost of the skirt and extra blade, I bet kayaking isn't significantly cheaper than open boating.

Also, people seem to be balking at the $1600 price tag on the L'edge, but not realizing the list price on an Esquif royalex boat is $1700.

Good work on getting more kids into open boats.

the nice thing about this sport is there are always used boats :) so it wont cost the $1600-$1800 ... i know i havent got that much invested in it yet and ive been paddling since i started in the school that smbjs is talking about :) ... its going to be fun and hard work helping the school out on that weekend ...

used boats like my skeeter are nice and still fun to paddle ... does that mean i dont want a new boat? no i am still trying to figure out how to get a blackfly lol

i would like to thank all of the people that have had an influence in my paddling since the first school i attended in 1998... i know i wasnt easy to put up with lol

I saw all the open boats on sunday on the hiwas, it was a good site to see. Quote from my buddy in his yak , "man, look at all the canoes".
